Tom Joad

This was my third piece inspired by the book Grapes of Wrath. The image transfer was taken from the cover of the book. This is a pretty average piece. I hope to think of a way to kind of step up the quality of this piece.

Onward to Cali

This piece was also inspired by the book Grapes of Wrath. I liked the look of the older cars used at this time. This piece was drawn in sharpie ink and then I used watercolor on top. The whole thing is coated in wax. I was trying to create a dusty look.

Subs

By far my favorite piece! The funnest part of this piece was using the tabletop resin (sp?) on top of the entire piece. It really brough everything together and made everything pop. I think that it makes the sub filling look more realistic. I also like the ink drawing in between each sub.

Corn

My inspiration for this piece actually came from a book I was reading in English class, Grapes of Wrath. The book is about a family who is forced off of their land during the dust bowl because the banks are revoking their land. There is a lot of images of corn fields in the book and I drew inspiration from this. The hardest part of this was trying to get the kernels how I wanted them, and I'm also dissapointed the text underneath the corn was covered up. I was hoping to have some of the text showing through the corn.

Oranges

This piece is obviously oranges. Still done in acrylic paint with variouis materials on the background including tissue paper. I think that the color scheme is my favorite part, I love blues and oragnes together.

Carrots

I really liked this piece, the whole thing is done in acrylic paint and the circles in the background are done with sharpie ink. I think that the leaves of the carrots came out really well. I also liked the color choices on this one.

Cotton Candy

Eh, this one is deffinately not one of my faves. It was supposed to be cotton candy but it is hard to identify. However I really do like the background, unfortunately a lot of it is covered up!
